Pinot Gris Pale lemon-yellow with grey-green highlights — crystal clear. Flint and silex on the nose followed by delicate florals. Saline, lightly iodic notes; long mineral finish of rare precision.

Seafood, fish, oysters. Lebanese fish mezze, grilled sea bass, hummus with seafood.

Weinberg Und Terroir

0.5 ha — the first Pinot Gris ever planted in Lebanon (1998). Claylimestone at 1,200 m, south/southeast exposure. Saline minerality unique to this site.

Weinbereitung

Hand-harvested in early August. 2week stainless steel fermentation, 8 months in stainless steel. No malolactic. Residual sugar 0.2 g/l.

Château Khoury

Founded in 2002 by Raymond and Brigitte El Khoury on the eastern foothills of Mount Lebanon near Dhour Zahlé, with vineyards already planted in 1995 on land left fallow after the civil war. Their son Jean-Paul, trained in Reims, leads the winemaking today. Château Khoury was the first Lebanese estate to introduce Alsatian varieties such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris alongside classic Bordeaux varietals.
